At a Glance...

IATC (International Aviation Technical College) is located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and operated by Aviation Australia Riyadh College (AARC). Established in 2014, IATC provides specialist training for future aircraft maintenance and engineering professionals. In Autumn 2020, IATC engaged AeroProfessional to recruit qualified Airframe and Powerplant instructors for placement in the Middle East. The specialist nature of these technical instructor roles required a highly targeted aviation technical recruitment strategy, an area in which AeroProfessional has established expertise.

The Situation...

IATC’s previous recruitment efforts for Airframe and Powerplant instructors proved highly challenging due to the specialist technical skills and instructional experience required. Despite sustained efforts, identifying suitably qualified aviation technical instructors remained difficult. The situation was further complicated by the Covid-19 pandemic, which disrupted the global aviation industry and imposed travel restrictions that constrained international recruitment activity.

AeroProfessional is an aviation recruitment consultancy with extensive experience in technical and engineering hiring. Over the years, AeroProfessional has supported airlines and training organisations in sourcing specialist aircraft maintenance professionals and instructors across global markets. Its tailored technical recruitment approach enables aviation employers to secure qualified candidates with the appropriate certifications, instructional capability and industry expertise.

IATC engaged AeroProfessional to recruit experienced Airframe and Powerplant instructors aligned with both operational training requirements and KSA Vision 2030 objectives. Candidates were required to demonstrate strong aircraft maintenance knowledge, instructional competence and the ability to contribute to Saudi Arabia’s long-term aviation development strategy. Leveraging its established candidate network, AeroProfessional implemented a targeted sourcing strategy to ensure technical capability, regulatory compliance and cultural alignment with IATC’s objectives.

The Solution...

AeroProfessional launched a targeted aviation technical recruitment campaign to attract qualified Airframe and Powerplant instructors, engaging both its established candidate network and external European markets. The campaign highlighted the relocation package and role requirements, attracting technically skilled aviation professionals, including passive candidates with aircraft maintenance instructional experience suited to IATC’s training environment.

At the time, Covid-19 continued to disrupt the aviation industry, complicating international hiring and relocation. With consecutive lockdown restrictions in place, AeroProfessional adapted its processes to fully remote operations while maintaining recruitment momentum. Online interviews, digital documentation and remote onboarding procedures ensured compliance and continuity despite travel limitations.

In parallel, AeroProfessional managed unexpected border closures that threatened candidate start dates and onboarding schedules. Virtual assessment preparation and structured communication supported candidate readiness, while close coordination of the visa application process ensured selected instructors secured the necessary documentation for relocation to Saudi Arabia without delay.

The Results...

Despite the disruption caused by Covid-19, AeroProfessional progressed the aviation technical recruitment campaign with minimal delay. Drawing on 15 years of experience in the Middle Eastern market, the team reduced recruitment timescales by over 50%, accelerating the hiring and onboarding of Airframe and Powerplant instructors while maintaining compliance with local regulations.

In addition to onboarding coordination, AeroProfessional managed the English language certification requirements and supervised the visa application process to ensure all instructors met IATC’s operational and regulatory criteria. The targeted recruitment strategy resolved previous sourcing challenges and aligned closely with IATC’s objectives for securing niche aircraft maintenance instructional talent.

Throughout the campaign, AeroProfessional provided structured HR and candidate management support, maintaining strong engagement across the hiring lifecycle. The recruitment process achieved a 78% submission-to-interview conversion rate, with 70% of shortlisted candidates accepting Airframe and Powerplant instructor positions, demonstrating measurable success in sourcing specialist aviation training professionals.
